APCTP Future Prospects and Possibilities of Gravity Research

Sep. 18 - 23, 2009

APCTP Headquarters, Pohang, Korea

Organizing Committee
- Sungwon Kim (Ewha Womans Univ., Korea)
- Sang Pyo Kim (Kunsan Nat'l Univ./APCTP, Korea)
- Chul-Moon Yoo (APCTP, Korea)
- Gungwon Kang (KISTI, Korea)

Scope

Importance of gravity research is increasing especially in these years. Needless to say, deep insight into general relativity and gravity is crucial for cosmology and astrophysics, which are developing with observational techniques and computer power of numerical simulations. Not only that, in association with higher-dimensional theories such as super-string theory, higher-dimensional black holes are attracting a lot of attentions. Furthermore, peoples are attempting to understand strongly correlated QCD systems or condensed matter systems using a certain duality with gravity systems.

The scope of this workshop is not only to summarize recent hot topics through talks of participants, but also to discuss "What we can do" and "What we should do" on the viewpoint of gravity research in the near future. We expect that new collaborating works will start through discussions during this workshop.

This workshop is divided into two periods, a talk part and a discussion part. The discussion part is just for free discussion, and no program.
