Scope
Complex phenomena such as information spreading, evolution, and learning typically emerge from the interaction between a number of constituents. We focus on systems in which the constituents are already of a macroscopic scale so that microscopic symmetries are spontaneously broken. Our key question is how such heterogeneous constituents interact with one another to exhibit universal behavior. This workshop will discuss in an open atmosphere important physics problems both theoretically and practically, such as the influence of the network structure on the stability of systems, the behavior of complex materials, patterns of human behavior extracted from big data, macroscopic dynamics of evolution, and theoretical understanding of intelligence. Productive collaboration is expected by combining data-driven research questions with world-class numerical/analytical capabilities.
