Abstract:
After Higgs discovery, particle physics is placed at a historic inflection point.
Historically, whenever particle physics seemed to be `unnatural', there almost always had been new discoveries --new particles and symmetries-- that made the theory 'natural'.
However, this time after Higgs discovery, the naturalness of the Higgs mass (which is the most recently measured parameter of the Standard Model) seems to point toward some new mechanism that no one knows yet. No new particles and symmetries that could have made the Higgs mass natural have been discovered.
By appreciating those 'traditional' beauties (from examples in the Standard Model of both particle physics and cosmology), we would like to ponder 'modern' beauties that might guide us toward fundamental physics of universe.

Snail Lecture (달팽이 강의) had started in 2015 by CAU, Yonsei, Konkuk particle groups, with SNU joining in 2017. We decided to make opportunities for slow introduction of frontier topics in particle physics to graduate students. The 'slow' is our slogan (hence its name), in that we allow ample time in the whole Saturday afternoon for casual Q&A during the lecture. Over the years, we have received lots of encouragement and support from the community. Needless to say, APCTP's support from the beginning in 2015 has been central too.
