The Junior Research Group (JRG), “Magnetized Plasma Physics and Astrophysics”, of Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), Pohang, Korea invites applications for two or more postdoctoral fellow positions starting Spring 2025. The starting date of the appointment is negotiable.

APCTP, founded in 1996, is an international organization dedicated to excellence in research and the training of young scientists in the Asia-Pacific region. APCTP offers a great research environment with strong connections to a number of active theoretical and experimental research groups at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). APCTP has broad international agreements with many leading institutions around the globe for scientific exchanges.

The postdoctoral fellow will primarily collaborate with the JRG leader, Prof. Young Dae Yoon, as well as existing post-docs in the group, on various topics pertaining to plasma physics relevant to space and astrophysics, nuclear fusion, particle acceleration, and fundamental physics. Specific topics include magnetic reconnection, magnetogenesis, plasma self-organization, plasma thermodynamics, plasma turbulence, wave-particle interaction, and plasma thrusters. Experience with plasma simulations of any sort (particle, fluid) is also desirable. A PhD in physics or a closely related field is required by the starting date.

The appointment is initially for one year but is readily subject to extension contingent upon funding and research performance.
